This year, we hosted 2 Christmas dinners! One on Christmas Day, and one on 28th! I absolutely love hosting at Christmas, I love seeing all my family, cooking....and eating!
This was the first year in our new house. We moved into a 15th Century Farmhouse back in April. The house has a lot of work that needs doing in it, but we wanted the dining room to at least look presentable ready for Christmas.
We already had a gorgeous 8ft reclaimed wood table top that we made a few years back but was too heavy to add to the collection, it had a gorgeous warm brown patina, and I knew it would be perfect as our new dining table. So Ben set to work adapting our old Ikea base so the top would fit, and we added our Millwards Industrial Chairs (always handy having a rental company when you need extra chairs at Christmas!). I already had the crockery and cutlery, but I wanted something really special as a runner to go down the middle of the table.
I got in touch with the lovely Dee from Forever Flowers by Dee, who hooked me up with a gorgeous faux runner, perfect for our table. I added some little battery powered fairy lights to it, and it was the perfect finishing touch to our Christmas Table.
So at 34, I finally feel like a proper grown up with my gorgeous Christmas table (complete with handwritten name tags by Jack age 4!).
