From the first day we started supplying Elmley Nature Reserve's Kingshill Barn for weddings, I knew that it was somewhere I was desperate to stay! They have THE most amazing shepherds huts available to hire - perfect!
Let's just get back to the barn for a moment. They have the most stunning barn available for hire for your wedding. Georgina and the team do the best job at offering you a licensed wedding venue in a gorgeous barn, with views over the marsh, in such a truly beautiful setting. If you're looking for a barn wedding in Kent, these guys really are a must for your list to go and view.
Back to the huts! They have a gorgeous choice of Shepherds Huts available for hire. We stayed in The Saltbox. We only had 1 night to spare, and we were lucky enough to find a mid week night available in November. I knew I wanted to stay in one of the colder months, the thought of waking up on a cold frosty morning over looking the nature reserve was just up mine and Ben's street.
The hut is small, but perfectly formed! It's so well kitted out, with a really high end, but rustic feel. A gorgeous king size bed over looking the reserve, a small kitchen, and shower room...oh and an outside shower if you're feeling brave!! There was also a fire pit outside with marshmallows to boot! We payed to have dinner and breakfast brought to our hut as we were feel pretty indulgent, and smug about the fact that we were kid free for the night! The food was fantastic. Hearty and delicious.
We drank wine and played scrabble in the evening, and then after breakfast the next day we took a walk around the nature reserve. It's such a stunning place and wish we could have stayed longer.
I also got to visit the barn where we supply our furniture for some of their weddings. I don't often get to visit venues, so it was great to visit the barn, and meet the lovely Georgina and her team who run it so well.
If you're looking to really get away from it all, detox and really get off the grid for a while, Elmley Nature Reserve is the perfect place. You will be warmly welcomed, and then left alone! Pretty perfect if you ask me!
